The Motor Graders We Stock
Graders for road building, county and township road maintenance, finish grading and pad prep. Common models include the Caterpillar 12H, 12M, 140H, 140M and 160M, John Deere 670G and 772G, Komatsu GD655, Volvo G940 and Case 865.

What to Check on a Used Motor Grader
- Circle and drawbar. Wear in the circle teeth and the drawbar ball shows up as a blade that won’t hold grade. Check for slop with the blade down.
- Moldboard and cutting edges. Look at wear strips, edge condition and whether the moldboard is straight.
- Tandems. Check tandem oil and listen for noise in the tandem cases. Leaks there get expensive.
- Articulation and wheel lean. Both should move smoothly and hold without drifting.
- Controls. Blade lift, side shift and circle turn should be smooth with no drift. On newer machines, check for active fault codes.
- All-wheel drive. If the grader has AWD or 6WD, make sure it engages and pulls.
Used Motor Grader Questions
What’s the difference between a 12-series and a 140-series grader?
In Caterpillar’s lineup, the 12 is the lighter, more nimble grader you see on county roads, while the 140 carries more weight and horsepower for heavier cutting and construction work. Other brands split their lineups the same way.
Do your graders come with a ripper or front blade?
Some do. Rear rippers, scarifiers and front push blades are listed in each grader’s description when they come with the machine.
Can a grader be hauled on a standard lowboy?
Yes, a lowboy or RGN is the usual setup. Graders are long, so freight depends on the model and route. We’ll help line up the haul.
